The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), led by President Yoo Seung-min, announced Sunday that the Korea Sports Human Resources Development Institute conducted the "2026 Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Drill" with the Jangheung Fire Department on May 29 to ensure the safety of trainees at the facility.
The institute, a multi-use facility serving both trainees and staff, has built a field-centered response system since its opening to enable immediate action in real emergencies.
The drill simulated a fire scenario and covered the full response sequence — including fire alarm activation, initial suppression, trainee evacuation, search and rescue, protection of key facilities, fire truck access, and on-site response procedures. It placed particular emphasis on securing clear evacuation routes, guiding trainees to safety quickly, and minimizing confusion during emergencies.
"The safety of trainees must be the top priority under any circumstances," KSOC President Yoo said. "We will continue to work closely with the Jangheung Fire Department and other relevant agencies to carry out effective drills and do our utmost to create a safe learning environment where trainees can study with peace of mind."
