Naver shares surge for second straight day as Nvidia CEO spotlights Naver Cloud partnership

Naver shares surged for a second consecutive trading day in double digits, as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang publicly highlighted his company's close partnership with Naver ahead of a planned meeting with Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin. Buoyed by expectations of physical AI cooperation with Nvidia, the stock — which had already posted a sharp gain the previous session — briefly soared nearly 30 percent during intraday trading.

Naver shares closed Monday up 16.03 percent at 271,500 won (about $181), according to Korea Exchange.

During the session, the stock briefly touched 304,000 won, up more than 29 percent from the previous close. The two-day rally follows a surge on May 29, when the stock climbed as much as 20 percent intraday after news broke that Huang would visit South Korea and meet with Chairman Lee. Naver closed that day up 13.15 percent at 234,000 won.

Markets attributed the continued climb to growing expectations around a Naver-Nvidia partnership. At the "Nvidia GTC Taipei 2026" keynote in Taipei, Taiwan, on Monday, Huang named Naver Cloud — a Naver subsidiary — among his company's global AI-native cloud partners.

A slide shown during the presentation listed global companies including Google, Yotta, Indosat and GMI. Naver Cloud appeared separately, positioned at the top of the screen. Huang drew particular attention to the relationship by placing a heart symbol and Nvidia's logo next to Naver Cloud's name, rendering the pairing as "Nvidia ♥ Naver Cloud."

The public shoutout carries weight because it marks the first time Naver Cloud has been explicitly named in Nvidia's global AI infrastructure strategy. The two companies have a long-standing relationship: Team Naver became the world's first organization to deploy Nvidia's SuperPOD supercomputing infrastructure in 2019.

Anticipation is building ahead of a meeting scheduled for later this week. Huang is set to travel to South Korea after wrapping up his Taiwan schedule, with a meeting with Chairman Lee planned for June 5 to discuss cooperation on AI infrastructure, sovereign AI and physical AI, among other areas. A visit to Naver's headquarters building "Naver 1784" on June 8 has also been mentioned as a possibility.

Naver 1784 serves as a showcase for the company's technology capabilities, integrating robotics, cloud computing, digital twins and a private 5G network under one roof. AMD CEO Lisa Su visited the building during her trip to South Korea in March, meeting with Naver CEO Choi Su-yeon and others to discuss AI infrastructure cooperation. Naver and AMD signed a memorandum of understanding at the time covering AI ecosystem expansion and next-generation infrastructure collaboration.
