GM Korea posts 47,081 sales in May, marking 3rd consecutive month above 40,000 units

GM Korea sold a combined 47,081 vehicles in domestic and overseas markets in May, marking the third consecutive month above 40,000 units since March, the company announced Sunday.

Overseas sales accounted for 46,273 of those vehicles. The Chevrolet Trax Crossover, including derivative models, contributed 29,988 units, while the Trailblazer and its derivatives added 16,285. Together, the two models sold 422,792 units in the United States last year, capturing roughly 43 percent of the compact SUV segment.

"The Chevrolet Trax Crossover has ranked No. 1 in domestic passenger car exports for four consecutive months from January through April this year, as it did last year, reflecting the positive momentum Chevrolet models continue to build in global markets," said Gustavo Colossi, vice president of sales, service and marketing at GM Korea. "In June, we will offer a range of purchase benefits, including installment financing programs, so that more customers in Korea can experience the distinctive appeal and character of the Chevrolet brand."

Meanwhile, GM Korea is running a special promotion throughout June, offering domestic customers a range of benefits. Buyers of the Chevrolet Trax Crossover, Trailblazer and the American premium pickup truck Sierra are eligible for various installment financing programs as well as cash and fuel cost support.

"Building on our multi-brand strategy, we are presenting customers in Korea with a diverse product portfolio," a GM Korea official said. "Going forward, we will continue to deliver high-quality service through our nationwide service center network, backed by GM-certified technology and standardized procedures."
