Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yun-deok held back-to-back town hall meetings with ministry staff on Friday and Sunday, calling for a transformation of the ministry's organizational culture.
Kim met with employees from regional offices and affiliated agencies on Friday, then gathered with headquarters staff on Sunday.
The sessions followed the ministry's first town hall, held March 30, and were designed to hear frontline perspectives suited to different work environments and roles, and to discuss organizational culture and internal communication.
Kim and staff reached a shared understanding on the need for managers in particular to take on greater responsibility and lead by example in driving cultural change. "Organizational culture does not change overnight — it shifts when small, consistent actions by its members accumulate," Kim said. "When both headquarters and field staff fulfill their responsibilities and understand one another, the organization can change in a healthy way."
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to incorporate feedback from the town halls into its organizational reform agenda and will continue working to establish a field-centered workplace culture and improve working conditions.
