Campaign targets the AI era
Videos feature destinations with 'AI' in their names
Deals run through Aug. 9
Trip.com is launching a summer brand campaign aimed at highlighting the essential value of real-world travel in an era when AI technology has become part of everyday life.
The online travel platform is kicking off the campaign Monday under the tagline "A TRIP has to be real. Hotels have to be TRIP." The campaign was conceived to spotlight the sensations and excitement of actual travel that AI cannot replicate, reflecting an age in which images and videos of destinations can be generated simply by entering a prompt.
The campaign videos are set in destinations whose names contain the letters "AI." Trip.com will release five videos in sequence, starting with a launch edition followed by spots set in the United Kingdom, Shanghai, Jeju Island's Olle Trail and Chiang Mai. Each video captures hotel and travel experiences through the eyes of different types of travelers, including families, couples and solo visitors.
Alongside the campaign launch, Trip.com is rolling out a discount promotion for summer vacationers running through Aug. 9. The company will offer special fares on flights operated by major domestic and international carriers, and will release weekly deals on four- and five-star premium hotels in Japan, Southeast Asia, Greater China and popular domestic destinations. Every Monday, customers can access first-come, first-served coupons of up to 50 percent off flights and hotels, as well as discounts of up to 50 percent on popular domestic and international tours and attraction tickets.
Trip.com said it intends to use the campaign as a springboard to strengthen its position as a global hotel booking platform. Campaign advertisements will run across TV, YouTube, Instagram and other digital channels, as well as offline channels including elevator media and airports in Gimpo and Jeju.
"The more perfectly technology can render an image, the more precious the wonder and unforgettable memories you encounter firsthand in an unfamiliar destination become," said Hong Jong-min, Trip.com's Korea country manager. "We hope that through Trip.com's robust global infrastructure and round-the-clock customer support, many people will feel confident embarking on a 'real trip' this summer."
