Gyeongbuk Health College AI center trains student nurses as community health guardians

The AI Health Innovation Center at Gyeongbuk Health College announced Monday that it had successfully completed a service-learning program designed to train nursing students while delivering public health services to the local community during the first semester of this year.

The program ran from March through May across six sessions held at the Gimcheon Senior Welfare Center and the Gimcheon Integrated Health Town.

Sixty second-year nursing students took part, offering a range of health promotion services to elderly residents — including blood pressure and blood sugar measurements, health risk assessments, lifestyle counseling and chronic disease prevention education.

Each session drew roughly 100 local residents who received health checkups, with students providing personalized health consultations based on the results.

In total, more than 600 residents received health management services through the program, which also helped raise awareness of the importance of preventive care.

Lee Seung-hee, director of the AI Health Innovation Center, said the center would continue to expand a future-oriented nursing education model built around community engagement.
