Seoul's Seocho-gu district office announced Tuesday it will conduct detailed safety inspections at 12 public parking facilities with reinforced concrete or steel-frame structures completed more than 10 years ago, aiming to identify and address potential hazards before they materialize.
The inspections, conducted under the Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities, will involve specialized agencies evaluating structural integrity, cracks, water leaks and corrosion, with each facility receiving a comprehensive safety rating. The district has allocated 135 million won (about $89,300) for the project.
Seocho-gu has signed a service contract for the inspections and plans to complete the work by Sept. 11. The facilities covered include high-traffic public parking lots serving the Bangbae Open Culture Center, Banpo 2-dong near Dulwich College and Guryong Park.
