Damyang-gun in South Jeolla Province will launch a "digital tourism resident card" service Monday through the Korea Tourism Organization's travel information portal "Daehanminguk Guseokguseok" website and app.
Visitors who obtain the digital tourism resident card can receive discounts at 49 affiliated businesses across five categories in the Damyang area — accommodation, food and beverage, attractions, experiences and shopping.
Damyang-gun completed the registration of participating business information and the installation of QR code scanning equipment after being selected for a Korea Tourism Organization grant project in April.
The county plans to expand its network of affiliated businesses to encourage longer tourist stays and boost local spending.
