'First-generation game streamer' Nanninggoo dead at 46

Nanninggoo (real name Han Tae-sik), widely regarded as one of South Korea's first-generation game streamers, has died at 46.

Fellow streamer BJ Monkey announced the death Saturday through his channel.

"He was someone I truly admired and respected," BJ Monkey said. "Please rest in peace. I will come to pay my respects."

A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday morning, with burial to take place at Incheon Family Park.

Nanninggoo was a full-time game streamer specializing in both mobile and PC titles, active on AfreecaTV and YouTube.

From the early 2010s, he built his following around mobile MMORPG content, including the "Lineage" series. He received the Mobile Game BJ of the Year award at the AfreecaTV BJ Awards in 2018, followed by the grand prize in the mobile comprehensive game category at the BJ Awards in 2019, the Mobile Comprehensive Game BJ of the Year in 2020, and the grand prize in the mobile game BJ category in 2021.
