Lee Jun-seok hits back at Jang Dong-hyeok's re-election call: 'Are you pressuring Oh Se-hoon to resign?'

Reform Party leader Lee Jun-seok on Sunday criticized People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok for calling for a re-election in Seoul over the ballot shortage that marred the city's mayoral by-election.

Writing on Facebook, Lee said Jang's call for a "Seoul re-election" amounted to telling Mayor-elect Oh Se-hoon to give up his seat. "Is your demand for a re-election, Dong-hyeok, a way of pressuring Oh Se-hoon to resign — or isn't it?" he wrote.

Lee also questioned the logic behind the push, noting that one path to invalidating a won election would be for defeated Democratic Party candidate Jeong Won-oh to file a lawsuit challenging the result. "Surely you're not praying for the opposing party to overturn our candidate's victory through litigation?" he asked.

Earlier that day, Jang held a press conference at the National Assembly urging a re-election, saying "what the majority of the public wants is for this flawed election to finally be set right."
