Chilgok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province will hold the "2026 Hanti Trail Walking Festival Hanti Hanmadang" on June 13 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Hanti Trail's opening, the county announced Sunday.
The event will run from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the lawn plaza of the Hanti Martyrs' Shrine.
The festival is divided into three parts, featuring a guided walk along the Hanti Trail, a talk and moonlit concert, a moonlit walk, a flea market, and a local food zone.
The Hanti Trail is a 45.6-kilometer pilgrimage route inspired by the path that Catholic ancestors walked from Waegwan's Gasil Cathedral to the Hanti Martyrs' Shrine during the Catholic persecution of the early 19th century.
Since its opening in 2016, the trail has drawn strong affection as a "Korean Camino de Santiago" — a place where those worn down by modern life come to clear their minds and find peace, transcending its original religious significance.
"I hope this event, prepared to mark the 10th anniversary of the Hanti Trail's opening, becomes a festival where everyone can share fellowship and find peace of mind," Chilgok-gun Mayor Kim Jae-wook said.
