New garden transforms idle land near Pamix Garden entrance as part of Seoul Metropolitan Government's Charm Garden project, featuring familiar medicinal plants such as balloon flowers, peony and chrysanthemum alongside ornamental grasses
Gangdong-gu in Seoul has created a medicinal plant-themed garden called "Breeze Herb Garden" on idle land near the entrance of Pamix Garden in Myeongil Neighborhood Park, as part of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Charm Garden project.
Pamix Garden, located within Myeongil Neighborhood Park, is an urban agriculture complex that combines cultivation, education and community functions. On weekdays, residents use the space for walks and relaxation, while weekends draw families for hands-on activities.
The newly created Breeze Herb Garden sits near the Pamix Garden entrance, offering residents a scenic spot and a place to rest.
In keeping with Pamix Garden's urban agriculture theme, the district planted familiar medicinal flowering plants — including balloon flower, peony, chrysanthemum and Korean mint — so that visitors can smell the herbs and observe the plants up close during their walks.
In addition, the district planted ornamental grasses such as Chinese pennisetum and feather reed grass alongside the medicinal plants to provide varied seasonal scenery throughout the year.
"This will be a restful retreat where residents can enjoy flowers and greenery as part of their everyday lives," district Mayor Lee Su-hee said. "We hope you will visit comfortably with family and friends and savor a moment of calm in the heart of the city."
