Jeon Han-gil claims ballot shortage is 'decisive evidence' of rigged elections, calls for nationwide revote

Jeon Han-gil, a former top-ranked Korean history lecturer turned YouTuber, said a ballot shortage during the June 3 local elections was "decisive evidence" of election fraud.

Speaking Sunday at a rally in Gwanghwamun, Jeon said the shortage showed that "the tail of those who have been rigging elections for more than 20 years has finally been caught," and declared all elections nationwide null and void, calling for a nationwide revote.

On June 3, ballot papers ran out at 14 polling stations across Seoul — in the Jamsil 2, 4 and 7-dong, Garak 2-dong and Munjeong 2-dong areas of Songpa-gu, Cheongdam-dong in Gangnam-gu, and Guui 3-dong in Gwangjin-gu — forcing a temporary halt to voting at those locations.

Jeon also said he was "invoking the people's right of resistance against the Lee Jae Myung administration, which bears full responsibility," and demanded that Lee step down.

Kim Hyeon-tae, former commander of the Army Special Warfare Command's 707th Special Mission Battalion, also took the stage and said South Korea was "under threat from rigged elections," claiming Lee Jae Myung had "seized power through fabricated insurrection charges and election fraud and is pushing the Republic of Korea toward communism and dictatorship."
