Kindergarten teacher burns 4-year-old girl's lips with hot glue gun for talking in class

A kindergarten teacher in China burned a 4-year-old girl's lips with a hot glue gun because the child was talking during class.

The incident occurred May 27 at a kindergarten in Fengxian, Jiangsu Province, according to the South China Morning Post.

The teacher, identified by her surname Chen, pressed a hot glue gun against the girl's lips, causing burns. The entire incident was captured on the kindergarten's closed-circuit television cameras.

In the footage, Chen first pressed the hot glue gun against a boy's hand. When the child quickly pulled away, she struck him before sending him off. She then called over the 4-year-old girl and burned her upper lip with the glue gun twice.

By that evening, blisters had formed on the girl's lips and pus had developed. Her parents, who only later learned the cause of their daughter's injuries, reported the incident to police.

The investigation found that Chen had abused the children solely because they were talking during class. After reviewing the CCTV footage with police, the girl's mother said she was devastated. "How could anyone treat a 4-year-old so cruelly?" she said.

Chen initially denied the charges, claiming the child had hurt herself. She changed her account only after being confronted with the CCTV footage, saying it was an accident and that she had not intended to cause injury.

The glue gun Chen used was a craft tool intended for a classroom decoration activity.

Education authorities removed Chen from her duties and arranged psychological counseling for the child.
