Hyundai Elevator's installation unit wins ISO 45001 safety certification

Hyundai Elevator Installation, a subsidiary of Hyundai Elevator, said Monday it obtained ISO 45001 certification — the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems — on May 27.

ISO 45001, established by the International Organization for Standardization, evaluates whether an organization has a management framework capable of identifying, assessing and improving workplace hazards.

Through the certification, Hyundai Elevator Installation brought its occupational health and safety management system — covering both its headquarters and project sites — up to international standards. The company also strengthened prevention and management processes for high-risk tasks such as work at height and heavy-load handling, reflecting the specific conditions of elevator installation sites.

In addition, the company built a proactive safety prevention system to identify and address potential hazards before they materialize. The company said the system has earned external recognition for safety and health management capabilities that go beyond regulatory compliance to meet international benchmarks.

Hyundai Elevator Installation plans to use the certification as a springboard to reinforce worker safety and serious-accident prevention. With requirements under laws such as the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act continuing to rise, the company said it intends to head off risk through a systematic occupational health and safety management system.

"Obtaining ISO 45001 certification is the result of placing the safety and health of our customers and employees above all else," CEO Hwang Hak-gu said. "We will carry out our responsibilities so that safety can be felt firsthand at every project site."

Hyundai Elevator Installation was established in 2022 as a subsidiary of Hyundai Elevator, with elevator installation as its core business.
