The 10th Gunsan Saemangeum National Inline Marathon concluded successfully at the Saemangeum Seawall — the world's longest, stretching 33.9 kilometers — with more than 5,000 participants taking part. Choi In-ho (Jeonbuk One Sports Club/Skating Start) and Yang Do-i (Andong City Hall, North Gyeongsang Province/Powerslide) each claimed first place in the 42-kilometer competitive division.
Organized by the Korea Roller Sports Federation and hosted by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Roller Sports Federation, the event drew more than 5,000 participants, again affirming its standing as the country's largest inline marathon festival. Beyond recreational skaters, the competition boosted registered athlete participation through a policy awarding national team selection points. To promote sports tourism and support the local economy, participants who stayed overnight in Gunsan received Gunsan Love Gift Certificates, an initiative aimed at encouraging spending at local businesses. The event has established itself as a signature regional festival that drives tourism and economic activity by bringing together recreational and competitive skating.
Jeong Yeong-taek, chairman of the organizing committee, said the competition had grown over its 10 editions into a premier sports festival uniting inline enthusiasts and elite athletes from across the country. "We will continue to develop it into South Korea's foremost inline marathon by running a safe, high-quality event that puts participants first," he said.
