'Unite and make guns': Social media post at ballot shortage rally draws police scrutiny

As protests over a ballot shortage continue, a social media post calling for the manufacture of firearms has drawn police attention.

The post read: "If we unite, we can produce firearms ourselves," adding that weapons should be prepared "as a last resort in case we are suppressed by force or suffer major physical harm."

The author also claimed to have memorized firearm blueprints and asked anyone working in steel or explosives-related manufacturing to make contact.

The post has since been deleted, but screenshots have spread through online communities. A police official said authorities are "continuing to analyze the situation."

If the author is found to have taken concrete steps toward building a homemade firearm, charges could include public intimidation or violations of the Act on the Safety Management of Firearms, Swords, Explosives, Etc.

However, because the author did not share specific manufacturing instructions or issue an explicit threat of harm, prosecution based on the post alone may prove difficult.
