Entire flour production process recognized for safety standards
Samlip's flour production and processing facility, the Sejong Center, has become the first in the domestic flour milling industry to receive Global HACCP certification, the company announced Monday.
Global HACCP is a food safety management system the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety introduced last August.
The system expands on existing HACCP standards by adding 72 global evaluation criteria — covering food defense, food fraud prevention, food safety culture and food safety management systems — bringing the total to 152 assessment items. The Sejong Center received certification across five product categories: flour, fortified flour, processed grain products, other processed products and sugar-based processed products, including premix types.
The facility operates a comprehensive quality and hygiene management system covering every stage of production, from raw material intake through manufacturing, storage and shipment. In 2022, it obtained halal certification for its flour production line from JAKIM, the official halal certification body under Malaysia's Department of Islamic Development. The center has also been expanding exports, shipping approximately 725 tons of flour and premix products to global markets including Hong Kong, Europe and the United States last year. It plans to scale that volume to 3,000 tons by 2027.
"We will continue to supply excellent products to customers at home and abroad on the basis of our rigorous quality and hygiene management system," a company official said. Meanwhile, Samlip's Seocheon factory, which produces processed meat products, also became the first in the ham and sausage category to earn Global HACCP certification, in March.
