Vision committee to formalize operations, advancing 65 campaign pledges across 7 priority areas
Jungnang-gu held a policy forum Monday to share the district's vision and policy direction for the 9th elected term with all staff, District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi announced.
The forum was the first policy meeting Ryu has chaired since the June 3 local elections, organized to share the 9th-term vision and campaign pledges with district employees.
The district presented its 9th-term policy direction under the overarching goal of "completing the great leap forward for Jungnang," aimed at strengthening the district's growth foundation and improving residents' quality of life.
The seven visions for the 9th elected term are: Jungnang as a hopeful future education city; economic growth and urban development; Jungnang as a transportation hub for northeastern Seoul; swift and reliable improvement of the residential environment; a culture-rich Jungnang for everyone to enjoy; a warm and inclusive welfare community; and Jungnang as the most walkable city in the country.
The district focused particularly on sharing policy directions and key initiatives in education, transportation, housing, culture and welfare — areas where residents can feel tangible change. To give concrete shape to the 9th-term vision, the district plans to operate the "Jungnang Donghang Vision Committee" (tentative name), composed of up to 30 experts and other members, to set policy priorities and advise on the 65 campaign pledge projects across the seven areas.
The district also plans to finalize the campaign pledge projects in September, following deliberations by the vision committee, departmental reviews and public consultations, with a pledge implementation plan to be drawn up and confirmed in November.
"The past eight years have been a time when Jungnang-gu built many achievements and grew the pride of its residents," Ryu said. "Going forward, we will continue to build on that growing pride and work together with residents to make Jungnang-gu a district we can all be proud of."
