Held in line with the Seoul International Garden Expo, the event offers office workers and tourists in Gwanghwamun a taste of garden life and everyday relaxation — large parasols and seating fill the park's center, with live music performances and garden experience programs throughout.
Jongno-gu (district mayor Jung Mun-heon) is hosting the "2026 Garden Picnic Week in Jongno" at Cheongjin Park (146-3 Cheongjin-dong) through Friday.
The event was organized in line with the Seoul International Garden Expo to give residents and visitors alike a moment of rest amid their busy daily lives. Anyone who cannot make it to the expo grounds can enjoy the beauty and freshness of a garden right in the heart of the city.
Throughout the event, Cheongjin Park will be filled with live music performances and hands-on programs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The park's central area, where the quiet charm of hanok blends with a modern garden, will be transformed into an open picnic zone. Large parasols, tables and comfortable chairs are set up throughout so anyone can enjoy an urban outing without special preparation — just bring a dosirak and you're set.
During the lunch hour (11:35 a.m. to 1 p.m.), busking performances will take the stage. The tranquil scenery around the Gardener's House, the soothing sound of water from the Cheongjinryu water feature and live acoustic music come together to give visitors a chance to recharge.
Inside the Gardener's House, visitors can also take part in a fragrance experience that captures the appeal of garden life, as well as a companion plant clinic where they can bring their houseplants for diagnosis and repotting.
"We want to present a meaningful event at Cheongjin Park in the heart of Gwanghwamun, connected to the Seoul International Garden Expo, and give nearby office workers and tourists a chance to relax," Jung said. "We will continue building a garden city that improves the quality of life for our residents."
