LS MnM publishes 2025 sustainability report, pledges broader stakeholder engagement

LS MnM said Monday it has published its 2025 Sustainable Growth Management Report, covering the company's environmental, social and governance performance and future growth strategy.

The company released the report on May 29. It has published the report annually since 2023, with this year's edition marking the fourth installment.

The report centers on five material issues: sustainable supply chain management, climate change response, pollution and hazardous substance management, corporate sustainability and securing future growth drivers, and industrial safety and health. It covers performance and activities across the environmental, people, social and governance dimensions.

LS MnM said it has upgraded its enterprise risk management framework by incorporating sustainability as a new category. Where the previous system focused on how external risks affect the company's finances and reputation, the updated framework also accounts for the impact of corporate activities on the environment and society, creating a two-way management structure.

On climate change, the company is pursuing a low-carbon technology transition by optimizing the operation of existing production facilities. The strategy aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions without large-scale equipment replacement, achieving both cost efficiency and environmental performance.

In environmental management, LS MnM monitors hazardous substance data in real time through a proprietary IT system. The company has also refined its raw material supply chain due-diligence procedures to strengthen oversight, and said no high-risk factors were identified anywhere in its supply chain last year.

The report also highlights efforts to strengthen the supply chain for key raw materials needed to support future growth. LS MnM said it is concentrating resources on securing raw materials to ensure a stable supply of critical components for advanced industries including electric vehicles, physical AI and semiconductors. The company particularly cited its planned investment in a nickel smelter in Indonesia as a key growth strategy for securing essential materials for secondary battery production.

"We are pursuing genuine sustainable management that goes beyond simple metrics tracking — linking risk and opportunity factors directly to our business strategy," LS MnM CEO Koo Dong-hwi said. "We will grow into a company trusted in global markets through proactive responses and continued communication with our stakeholders."

Meanwhile, LS MnM continues to carry out corporate social responsibility activities across a range of areas, including an annual tree-planting initiative called the "MnM Greener Campaign," which it runs jointly with the Seoul Green Trust each spring.
