Horang Edu announced Tuesday that it has been selected as an operating institution for the 2026 Digital Saessak project, a national AI and software education initiative targeting elementary, middle and high school students, in partnership with the Konkuk University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation consortium.
The Konkuk University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation leads the consortium, with Mirae-N Edu Partner and Horang Edu participating as collaborating organizations.
The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity runs the Digital Saessak project, which is designed to give students hands-on experience with AI and digital technology both inside and outside the classroom. Its core activities include developing AI and software education content and integrating it with the national curriculum.
The Konkuk University consortium will carry out a project worth approximately 1 billion won ($647,000), running education programs on a nationwide scale. The initiative targets a wide range of learners — from lower elementary school students through high schoolers, including students receiving special education — with a total enrollment of roughly 4,880 participants.
The project comprises seven programs. They include unplugged AI education for younger elementary students; physical AI education using hangul-based coding and robots; AI and software education for middle school students combining data science and satellite technology; generative AI-based project classes; an AI hackathon program; data analysis and AI education for high school students; and an augmentative and alternative communication-based AI program for students in special education.
Each program follows a project-based learning format, giving students direct experience with AI principles, data use, robot control and generative AI applications.
Horang Edu will develop the AI and software education content and run the programs. The company offers AI and coding education services built on a hangul programming language and has been recognized as a top case in the Korea Education and Research Information Service's public education suitability assessment. It has also participated in the EduTech SoftLab demonstration project and AI education projects run by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.
"Through this project, we plan to help students engage more easily with AI and digital technology," a Horang Edu official said. "We will focus on running AI and software education programs that can be put to practical use in school settings."
