Mirae Asset Life Insurance said Monday it has introduced AI-FIT, a large language model-based generative AI underwriting system — the first of its kind in the domestic life insurance industry. The company said it is the first in the sector to deploy generative AI across the entire process, from customer consultation through policy review.

The company launched AI-FIT to boost the productivity of its sales agents through AI innovation. The system analyzes customer health information and insurance claims history from the Korea Credit Information Services in real time, instantly generating underwriting results for detailed coverage across all products.

AI-FIT is integrated across three stages of the sales process: product selection, policy design and underwriting application. Agents can now use a disease treatment history simulation feature to carry out optimized coverage planning more efficiently.

The system's core capability is natural language processing. Previously, agents faced significant difficulties in consultations and underwriting when they did not know the precise diagnosis name — specifically, the Korean Standard Classification of Diseases code. With AI-FIT, agents can enter treatment history in plain language or attach a medical certificate, and the AI interprets the input to automatically extract the relevant disease code and standard questionnaire answers for the application form. Immediate underwriting simulations are also available at the policy design stage, substantially reducing bottlenecks that previously slowed the review process.

Mirae Asset Life has been building a security-focused AI infrastructure, including an in-house AI chatbot called M:AI deployed on an on-premises system isolated from the public internet. The company has also been accelerating its company-wide AI transformation, sharing its medium- and long-term AI strategy at an event called "AI Next Horizon 2026."

"The introduction of AI-FIT will streamline the consultation and enrollment process and allow for clear underwriting results, driving simultaneous improvements in both reliability and efficiency," said Eom Mi-ri, head of the underwriting division at Mirae Asset Life. "We will continue to apply AI technology across all aspects of underwriting to deliver a differentiated customer experience and advance our underwriting framework."
