Lotte Mart said Wednesday it will expand its "Oneul Joheun" private-label lineup of products priced under 1,000 won. The retailer will release "Oneul Joheun" bean sprouts at 980 won on June 11, followed by "Oneul Joheun" soft tofu at 690 won on June 25.
The expansion aligns with a broader consumer trend toward value-for-money spending. The number of sub-1,000-won items under the brand has grown from 45 in 2024 to 90 as of this month, spanning fresh produce, beverages, snacks and household goods.
In the fresh food category, "Oneul Joheun" soybean sprouts and tofu are each priced at 1,000 won, while strawberry, banana and chocolate milk sell for 500 won. Some 34 snack varieties — including "Oneul Joheun Jet Cone" — have also proven popular. Household staples such as facial tissue, pocket-size mini tissue and wet wipes round out the lineup at 1,000 won each.
Demand for ultra-low-price private-label products has grown steadily. Sales of sub-1,000-won private-label items at Lotte Mart rose 18.3 percent year-on-year through June 8. Lotte Mart and Lotte Super are also working to draw customers by anchoring their offerings around everyday food essentials such as olive oil, milk and bread.
