Gangbuk-gu Launches Transition Committee for 9th Elected-Term Mayor

Ahead of the ninth elected term in Gangbuk-gu, the "9th Elected-Term Gangbuk-gu Mayor Transition Committee" officially launched Thursday to prepare mayor-elect Jeong Chang-su for his duties and support a smooth start to district administration.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Haengbok Hall of the Gangbuk Culture and Arts Center, included the presentation of appointment certificates to committee members, remarks from the mayor-elect and the committee chair, a commemorative photo, and a launch declaration performance. Committee members drew particular attention by holding placards bearing the mayor-elect's vision and the aspirations of the ninth elected term, reaffirming their commitment to change.

The committee was formed under the "Ordinance on the Operation of the Gangbuk-gu Mayor Transition Committee," comprising 15 members and 18 advisory members. Kim Sang-eon, chair of the Gangbuk-gu chapter of the Democratic Peace and Unification Advisory Council, was appointed committee chair. Nam Mi-hee, chair of the Gangbuk Social Solidarity Economy Council, was named vice chair.

Committee members plan to review the current state of district administration across areas including the economy, welfare, education and public safety, establish policy and campaign pledge proposals for the ninth elected term, and publish their findings in a white paper.

"The transition committee's role is to examine Gangbuk's challenges and potential, and to refine the promises made to residents into policies they can actually feel," mayor-elect Jeong said. "I hope the committee members will draw on voices from the community and the expectations of residents as we chart Gangbuk-gu's future together."
