Singer Yang Hee-eun shares update after cornea transplant: 'Am I a woman who can only rest when sick?'

Singer Yang Hee-eun has shared an update on her recovery following a cornea transplant.

On Thursday, Yang posted on her Instagram that she "must lie on her back staring at the ceiling for several days" after being discharged from the hospital following the surgery. Photos she shared showed her resting with her right eye wrapped in a protective cover and bandages.

She mentioned her dog Choco and her younger sisters, writing that "Choco sits on my stomach to guard me and barks like it's about to attack whenever Hee-kyung or Hee-jeong comes near." She added, "Am I a woman who can only rest when sick?"

Yang missed the live broadcast of MBC Standard FM's "Women's Era with Yang Hee-eun and Kim Il-jung" on June 9 due to the surgery. Co-host Kim Il-jung told listeners that she was undergoing "vision-restoration surgery related to her cornea." Actor Han Hye-jin stepped in as a special guest DJ to fill her absence. "I heard Yang Hee-eun had eye surgery — I hope she recovers well. I'll be praying for her," Han said.

Born in 1952, Yang made her debut in 1971 with "Morning Dew." She went on to win wide public affection with songs including "Evergreen Tree," "On the Loneliness of Love" and "From a Mother to Her Daughter."
