Hanjin to handle broadcast equipment logistics for 2026 World Cup

Hanjin announced Friday that it will handle the international transport of broadcast equipment for South Korean broadcasters covering the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America.

The company will collect equipment from domestic broadcasters, pack it in custom-sealed cases, clear customs and air-freight the cargo to the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) in Dallas, Texas — managing the entire process end to end.

Hanjin began packing and shipping the equipment in phases starting in April. After the tournament ends July 20, the company plans to retrieve the equipment from the Dallas IBC, ship it back to South Korea and return it to the broadcasters, completing the full logistics cycle.

Broadcast equipment is high-value precision hardware sensitive to impact and vibration, requiring careful handling throughout transit. Hanjin said it drew on its experience transporting special cargo and its custom-packaging expertise to minimize the risk of damage and establish a safe shipping system.

Hanjin has built a track record in sports logistics spanning major international events and domestic competitions. The company handled logistics for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics. This year, it also served as the official logistics partner for the Seoul Marathon.

The company has credentials in specialized logistics as well. At the 2023 Korea Cup International Equestrian Competition, Hanjin demonstrated its expertise by transporting racehorses from the United States and Japan to the competition venue in Gwacheon.

"Building on the sports logistics know-how we have accumulated through the Paris international sports events and various other international competitions, we will provide safe and precise logistics service for this North and Central American football tournament as well," a Hanjin official said.

Meanwhile, at the 2026 Seoul Marathon held in March, Hanjin safely transported the personal belongings — including clothing and gear — of roughly 40,000 participants from the starting point at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul to the finish line at Jamsil Olympic Stadium, further demonstrating its logistics capabilities across the sports sector.
