SK Ecoplant ramps up hiring for semiconductor, AI talent after record quarter

SK Ecoplant is stepping up efforts to secure talent in high-tech fields, including semiconductor infrastructure and AI data centers.

The company announced Friday it will recruit entry-level staff — referred to internally as "junior talents" — for those areas.

The junior talent program is open to candidates who hold a bachelor's degree or higher, including those expecting to graduate, as well as applicants with fewer than three years of practical work experience. In some cases, up to two years of prior experience may be recognized.

Open positions cover semiconductor plant design and construction. The company plans to hire a double-digit number of candidates, with applications accepted through June 28 via SK Careers, SK Group's integrated recruitment platform.

The selection process includes a document review, the SK Comprehensive Aptitude Test and interviews. Successful candidates are expected to join the company in September.

SK Ecoplant has been accelerating talent acquisition to strengthen its competitiveness in the AI infrastructure sector. Last month, the company recruited experienced professionals across all areas of its semiconductor business, including design, construction and project management. A separate hiring drive for semiconductor technology specialists to be placed at subsidiaries runs through June 14.

The company also runs talent development programs. SK Ecoplant and SK Eco Engineering partnered with Sungkyunkwan University in 2022 to launch a master's program in high-tech solutions. Graduates earn an official master's degree in engineering, and all participants are assigned to AI infrastructure-related business units upon completion.

SK Ecoplant said its strategy is to raise execution capacity in core growth businesses — including semiconductors and AI data centers — and strengthen its human capital base as an AI infrastructure solutions provider, through proactive recruitment and systematic talent development.

"We plan to simultaneously strengthen on-site execution and future growth capabilities by securing both experienced professionals with project track records and entry-level members with strong potential," a company official said.

SK Ecoplant posted consolidated sales of 4.8997 trillion won (approximately $3.21 billion) and operating profit of 931.4 billion won in the first quarter of 2026, with sales nearly doubling year on year. Its semiconductor and AI infrastructure construction division — which handles semiconductor manufacturing facilities and AI data center builds — recorded sales of 1.4746 trillion won, up sharply from 844.1 billion won in the same period a year earlier.
