Cooling supplies distributed to low-income vulnerable residents ahead of peak summer heat; 120 fans to be delivered to households lacking adequate cooling
The Seokgwan-dong Community Social Security Council in Seoul's Seongbuk-gu held a fan-sharing event Friday in the courtyard of the Seokgwan-dong Community Center to help vulnerable neighbors stay healthy through the summer heat.
The council organized the event ahead of the peak summer heat season to reduce health risks and ease daily hardships for low-income residents who lack adequate cooling at home.
A total of 120 electric fans will be distributed to low-income households that either have no fan or own one too old to function properly.
"We prepared this fan-sharing event hoping it would offer real, practical help to our neighbors before the worst of the heat sets in," said Kim Hyeong-jung, chairman of the Seokgwan-dong Community Social Security Council. "We will continue to look after the most vulnerable members of our community with care."
Seongbuk-gu District Mayor Lee Seung-ro thanked the council members for organizing the event. "This is something the public sector should be doing, and I am grateful to the chairman and the council members for stepping up for those in need," he said. "The district will continue to strengthen its care systems to protect the safety and health of our residents."
