Seoul's Seongbuk-gu announced Friday that it is launching "Seongbuk Future Sharing School," a youth mentoring program developed in partnership with local universities to help close the education gap for children and teenagers while building skills among college students. The district already runs a range of college-entrance support programs for local youth and recently held the "2026 Seongbuk-gu College Admissions Fair," which drew participation from 12 universities.
The program draws on the district's concentration of higher-education institutions, with Korea University, Hansung University and the University of Seoul serving as partners. Children and teenagers at community child centers in the district will be matched one-on-one or in groups of up to three with college student mentors, who will provide tailored academic support. The college students, in turn, will gain career-exploration opportunities through connections with working professionals.
