JTBC drama 'Rediscovery of Love' halts filming for month-long retooling

JTBC's upcoming drama series "Rediscovery of Love" has suspended filming for about a month as the production undergoes a retooling period.

A representative for the drama said Monday that the production is taking a month-long break "to raise the quality of the script." The representative added that filming would resume after the hiatus, noting that the rainy season made the pause a natural fit.

The suspension drew attention after JTBC declared a debt default and several major affiliates of the Joongang Group filed for court receivership, prompting speculation that the halt was connected to the company's financial difficulties.

The production team rejected that interpretation, however, saying the filming stoppage was "not for that reason."

"Rediscovery of Love" is a workplace romantic drama about a divorced couple who not only share a home but end up working at the same company, gradually rediscovering each other in the process. Kim So-yeon, Kim Ji-seok, Yoon Hyun-min and Hwang Woo-seul-hye have been cast in the lead roles.

The production had officially announced a second-half broadcast schedule on June 10, when it unveiled the main cast lineup.

Meanwhile, JTBC declared a debt default on June 12 after failing to repay 20.6 billion won (about $13.4 million) in securitized borrowings. Following the default, five major Joongang Group affiliates — Joongang Holdings, JTBC, ContentreeJoongAng, Megabox Joongang and Joongang P&I — filed for court receivership at the Seoul Rehabilitation Court. A hearing with the companies' representatives is scheduled at the court on Tuesday.
