Plan International Korea, an international humanitarian and development NGO, said it partnered with Kumho Petrochemical to provide hygiene kits to 250 underprivileged girls in South Korea, with company employees volunteering in the assembly effort.
The project was designed to support the hygiene and health of girls from low-income households who struggle to afford personal care products.
On Sunday, 16 Kumho Petrochemical employees took part in a volunteer session to assemble the kits. Each kit contained sanitary pads in multiple sizes — overnight, large, medium and panty liner — along with a sanitary pad pouch, a hot water bottle, hand cream and fabric deodorizer.
Plan International Korea plans to deliver the assembled kits to 250 underprivileged girls across the country.
"There are girls who feel burdened by the cost of hygiene products due to financial difficulties," a Plan International Korea official said. "We hope the kits assembled by the employees will make a difference in their daily lives."
A Kumho Petrochemical official said the activity gave employees a direct way to support children and youth. "We plan to continue working with Plan International Korea on a range of social contribution initiatives," the official added.
Meanwhile, Kumho Petrochemical has been carrying out various social contribution activities with Plan International Korea, including projects supporting children in South Korea.
