Singer Gree says 'upright youth' image feels like pressure: 'I'm not really at that level'

Gree (Kim Dong-hyun), a singer and broadcaster known as the son of broadcaster Kim Gu-ra, has spoken candidly about the "upright youth" image that has followed him since childhood.

A video titled "Gree's Black Pig Catch — Ten Meals" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Kim Gree" on Monday.

When the production crew asked whether there was any content he wanted to try on his own, Gree said he wanted to help people and do good deeds. "I'm genuinely a good person. There's a warm side to me — though honestly, I don't always come across that way," he said with a laugh.

He then opened up about the pressure he feels from the "upright youth" image the public has attached to him, noting that expectations run high because he has appeared on television since childhood and grown up in the public eye.

"I think it's because I've been on TV since I was young," Gree said. "People always say I turned out well, but that image can actually feel like a burden sometimes. Honestly, I'm not really at that level."

He added that the image makes him feel he needs to be more careful. "If someone with a bad image says something mean, you just brush it off — but isn't it more of a shock when someone with a good image does it?" he said, drawing laughter.

Gree also drew attention when he shared a content idea he hopes to pursue: taking his paternal grandmother, born in 1939 and now 88 years old, on an overseas trip — just the two of them, without his father.

Born in 2000, Gree became a familiar face to the public through numerous television appearances alongside his father Kim Gu-ra from an early age. He has since pursued a career as a rapper while continuing to make music, and currently engages with audiences through both broadcast appearances and YouTube content.
