A three-story integrated health promotion center packed with physical fitness, therapy and rehabilitation facilities has opened in Cheorwon-gun, offering residents tailored health services under one roof.
According to Cheorwon-gun, the center was finalized as a local population-decline response fund investment project on Aug. 22, 2022, and was built at a total cost of 12.244 billion won ($7.97 million), funded by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and Cheorwon-gun.
The modern three-story building sits on a site of 2,991.44 square meters with a total floor area of 1,494.95 square meters, combining health promotion, rehabilitation and education functions in a single complex.
The first floor houses an exercise room, a growth and development diagnostic exercise room, and a rehabilitation exercise room, supporting residents' basic fitness and rehabilitation needs.
The second floor features a cooking room, a rehabilitation treatment room, and a smoking cessation and oral health room, strengthening preventive and therapeutic services.
The third floor contains a classroom and consultation rooms for AI-IoT health management and nutritional counseling, providing personalized health management services focused on education and guidance. Few county-level municipalities offer a total-care facility of this scope.
The center goes beyond a conventional public health facility, establishing an integrated health management system that brings together prevention, rehabilitation, education and counseling.
Baek Seung-min, director of the Cheorwon-gun Public Health Center, said the center is expected to become a health platform accessible to all residents, significantly contributing to extending healthy life expectancy and improving quality of life in the community.
