12 products to see 500-won increase starting July 1, citing rising raw material and manufacturing costs
OurHome has confirmed it will raise prices on some products under its frozen dosirak brand On the Go by 7.7 percent.
According to industry sources, OurHome plans to increase the price of 12 On the Go products from 6,480 won to 6,980 won — a 500-won, or 7.7 percent, rise — starting July 1.
The 12 items subject to the increase include flame-grilled kimchi pork rice bowl, Chuncheon-style cheese dakgalbi rice bowl, double cheese beef brisket kkakdugi, Jeonju-style beef five-color bibimbap, flame-grilled squid pork rice bowl and charcoal-flavored beef brisket bulgogi rice bowl, among others.
"Due to the continued rise in key raw and subsidiary material costs as well as manufacturing costs, we have unavoidably decided to raise the sale price of some On the Go products," the company said. "Through this price adjustment, we will do our best to provide higher-quality products over the long term and maintain a stable supply."
Food and restaurant companies have been raising prices one after another, citing higher raw material costs. Lotte Chilsung will increase factory prices on 44 products across 12 brands — including Chilsung Cider and Pepsi-Cola — by an average of 5.3 percent starting June 26.
The Born Korea, led by chief executive Baek Jong-won, raised prices on some menu items at 11 restaurant brands — including Saemaul Sikdang and Yeokjeon Udon — by an average of about 11 percent starting June 9. The affected items account for about 20 percent of the total menu.
Mega MGC Coffee raised prices on three products — Hal Mega Coffee, Wang Hal Mega Coffee and Hal Mega Misut Coffee — by 200 won each starting June 19. Ediya Coffee also raised prices on some stick coffee products by up to 15.2 percent starting June 6.
