The Subuk-myeon Social Organizations Council in Damyang-gun will hold the "2nd Subuk-myeon Community Day — Gukchang Yi Nal-chi Cultural Festival" on July 4 at the plaza of the Subuk-myeon community office.
The festival honors Yi Nal-chi, a celebrated master singer of the Joseon era and a Damyang-born luminary of the Seopyeonje pansori tradition, and is designed as a gathering where local residents and tourists can come together.
The program opens with a pre-ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by a commemorative ceremony at 11 a.m. that includes a commendation and appreciation plaque presentation and a Gukpanjong scholarship ceremony.
The festival stage will feature a tightrope-walking demonstration in the spirit of Gukchang Yi Nal-chi, a pansori performance by master singer Kwon Ha-gyeong, a performance by the Pyongyang Arts Troupe, and sets by invited singers Jeon Gi-ho and Son Bin.
