Yeungnam University of Science and Technology joins K-New Deal Academy's Hi-CEED program

Yeungnam University of Science and Technology announced Wednesday that it has joined HD Construction Equipment and Kyungpook National University as an education program operator for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's K-New Deal Academy project, aimed at developing digitally integrated talent to lead the future manufacturing industry.

HD Construction Equipment leads the program, with Yeungnam University of Science and Technology and Kyungpook National University providing training designed to build the practical skills demanded on the factory floor and the AI capabilities needed in the era of digital transformation.

The K-New Deal Academy is a project in which companies directly design curricula and partner with universities and specialized training institutions to offer industry-centered education opportunities to young people. It serves as a flagship hands-on talent development program linking education with employment.

The course runs from July 6 through Sept. 8, totaling 430 hours, and is open to unemployed youth aged 15 to 34, including those from the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province region.

Tuition is fully covered, and participants will receive lunch during the training period along with a monthly training incentive and self-development allowance of up to 800,000 won ($520).

Yeungnam University of Science and Technology plans to provide personalized career counseling tailored to each student's goals and competencies throughout the program, with the aim of strengthening employability and supporting a successful transition into the workforce.

"Yeungnam University of Science and Technology will actively support students in growing into hands-on professionals equipped with the core competencies demanded in the age of AI and digital transformation," said Seong Geum-gil, head of the university's career support office. "We will continue to expand industry-academia cooperation programs that contribute to regional industrial development and the revitalization of youth employment."
