Hwaseong opens Golden Coast Trail on Friday

Hwaseong City has completed construction of the Hwaseong Golden Coast Trail and will open it to the public on a temporary basis starting Friday.

The trail takes its name from the way the West Sea's sunset washes the ocean in brilliant golden hues. Stretching 17 kilometers from Jebudo through Baengmi Port to Gungpyeong Port, it is set to become one of Hwaseong's signature coastal tourism destinations.

The route is divided into three themed segments: Segment 1, the Sunset Scenery Trail (5.0 km, Jebu Marina to Songgyo-ri); Segment 2, the Salt Sea Trail (4.5 km, Songgyo-ri to Baengmi Port); and Segment 3, the Gungpyeong Tourism Trail (7.5 km, Baengmi Port to Gungpyeong Port).

Hwaseong Special City has put in place a range of measures to maximize accessibility and convenience for tourists ahead of the opening. Two community bus routes — Golden Coast 01 and Golden Coast 02 — have been running since May, circling the Seoharang Cable Car, Jeongok Port, Jebudo and Gungpyeong Port for visitors using public transportation.
