Key issues by subcommittee of the 9th elected governor's transition team
After Woo Sang-ho takes office as governor, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province plans to develop a world-class mixed-use tourism complex and a food convergence industry cluster, carry out a major overhaul of fish markets along the East Sea coast, and establish culture and arts theme towns across the region.
The culture, sports, welfare and tourism subcommittee — chaired by Yoo Man-hee — of the 9th elected Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province gubernatorial transition team said Thursday that the welfare and health bureau is in in-depth discussions on how to build an integrated local essential and public healthcare system for Gangwon. The tourism bureau is examining ways to develop a world-class mixed-use tourism complex.
The culture and sports bureau is focused on follow-up measures for Governor-elect Woo's campaign pledges, including selecting hub locations for culture and arts theme towns, expanding content within those towns, and determining the entities responsible for driving the initiative.
The agriculture, fisheries and forestry coexistence subcommittee, chaired by Shin Su-mi, held campaign pledge implementation briefings in sequence from the agriculture bureau, the marine and fisheries bureau and the forest environment bureau, and discussed the pledges in detail.
The agriculture bureau reported plans to build a Gangwon-style food convergence industry cluster, the marine and fisheries bureau outlined a sweeping overhaul of fish markets along the East Sea coast, and the forest environment bureau presented a Gangwon-style forest economy industrial belt initiative as its pledge implementation plan. The subcommittee urged that delivering results be set as the top priority and that the plans proceed without delay.
In the future growth industries subcommittee, the future industries bureau reported plans to strengthen a Gangwon-style liquefied hydrogen industry cluster, while the industry bureau outlined pledges to foster Gangwon's biotech and medical AI-driven transformation industry and attract AI data centers. Both bureaus conducted a close review of the conditions needed for implementation.
