Yecheon-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has entered the peak harvest season for its signature crop, Yecheon peaches, with shipments now heading to consumers across the country.
More than 120 farms are cultivating peaches across at least 153 hectares in the county this year, according to Yecheon-gun. The first shipments went out in mid-June, with the full harvest now underway.
Yecheon peaches are grown in an inland basin known for wide daily temperature swings and abundant sunlight — conditions that produce dense, sweet flesh with high sugar content. The fruit has built a loyal following among consumers for its rich aroma and juicy texture.
The peaches are available through local agricultural cooperatives, on-site farm stands and the online marketplace "Yecheon Jangter."
"Yecheon peaches are a premium local fruit with strong competitiveness, backed by exceptional sweetness and quality," a county official said. "We will continue to actively support farmers by diversifying distribution channels and improving farm household income."
