Chaevi wins two public fast-charger contracts from climate ministry, Seoul energy firm

Chaevi, an electric vehicle charging infrastructure operator, announced Thursday that it has won two public EV fast-charger contracts simultaneously — one issued by the Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy, and another by the Seoul Energy Corporation.

Chaevi was selected as the Zone 4 contractor for the "2026 Public EV Fast Charger Manufacturing and Procurement Project," under which it will install 136 standalone 100-kilowatt chargers and 113 simultaneous 200-kilowatt chargers across Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province and North Gyeongsang Province.

The company also won the "2026 Seoul Metropolitan Government Public EV Charging Facility Manufacturing and Procurement Project," under which it will install 12 dual fast chargers — rated at 100 and 200 kilowatts — and eight canopies at public facilities in Seoul by December.

Combined, the two projects will have Chaevi manufacture, supply and install approximately 260 public fast chargers in the 100–200 kilowatt range.

The climate ministry contract weighted technical evaluation at 90 points and price at 10, making technological capability the primary selection criterion. Stringent technical standards applied, including domestically sourced core components, power conversion efficiency of at least 95 percent, connector insertion-and-removal durability of at least 20,000 cycles, and OCPP 1.6 or higher software security certification.

Chaevi also received high marks in the supply chain stability assessment for establishing domestic procurement systems and multiple supply chains for key components such as power modules, PLC modems, LCD panels and connectors. The company was further recognized for new technologies including Plug and Charge, fire-prevention systems and compatibility with automakers, as well as for its after-sales service capabilities.

"This is a result that again validates our charger manufacturing technology and our ability to build and operate public charging infrastructure," Chaevi CEO Choi Young-hoon said. "Incorporating field operating experience and data into product development is what sets Chaevi apart." He added that the company would "create an environment where EV users can charge with confidence anytime, anywhere through continuous technological advancement and stronger operational capabilities."
