Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding may be set for Madison Square Garden on July 3

Speculation is growing that global pop star Taylor Swift, 36, and NFL star Travis Kelce, 36, will hold their highly anticipated wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3.

The New York Times, citing anonymous sources Wednesday local time, reported that event planning firm Winick Productions filed a request with New York City earlier this month to use roads near Madison Square Garden for an event scheduled for July 3.

The company asked the city for permission to set up tents and other structures outside the venue.

Attendance was estimated at between 500 and 999 people.

Madison Square Garden is the home arena of the NBA's New York Knicks and is widely regarded as a legendary stage that has hosted iconic artists including Michael Jackson and Madonna.

A source told the Times that a New York City Hall official said the July 3 event at Madison Square Garden was a wedding celebration. Another source said several players from Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs, had booked rooms at the Marriott Marquis hotel in nearby Times Square around July 3.

The Times also reported that transit police officers responsible for security at the below-ground rail station at Madison Square Garden had been instructed to expect Swift's wedding to take place next weekend.

Swift has long expressed a deep affection for New York, including in her 2014 hit "Welcome to New York" and several other songs.

Swift publicly confirmed her relationship with Kelce in 2023. The couple announced their engagement last year, and recent reports have suggested the wedding is imminent.

CNN has called the wedding the most anticipated cultural event since the 2011 marriage of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton. No official announcement regarding the wedding has been made.

As speculation about an imminent Swift wedding has mounted, more than 3 billion won ($1.95 million) has been wagered on prediction markets tied to the event.

According to The New York Times and The Times, bets placed on prediction platform Kalshi related to Swift's wedding had reached $2 million as of June 10 local time.

Of that total, $1.49 million was wagered specifically on the wedding venue. New York topped the prediction rankings at the time, as it did in multiple media reports, with Pennsylvania and Tennessee each trailing at 2% odds.

Swift and Kelce, who are the same age, began dating publicly in the summer of 2023. Kelce had previously said on his podcast that he visited one of Swift's concerts hoping to pass along a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, but failed — and that Swift reached out after hearing about it, sparking their relationship.

Swift has continued to dominate the charts, sweeping the top 12 spots on the singles chart with her 12th studio album "The Life of a Showgirl" in January last year.
