Comedian Ahn Young-mi welcomes second son

Comedian Ahn Young-mi, 43, has given birth to a healthy baby boy.

Her agency, Media Lab Seesaw, announced Thursday that Ahn gave birth to a healthy second son at a hospital in Seoul on Wednesday.

"Both the mother and baby are in good health," the agency said, adding that Ahn is resting comfortably with the care and warm congratulations of her husband and family.

The agency said Ahn plans to return to broadcasting in good health after a full recovery.

Ahn had announced her second pregnancy in February on her MBC radio program "Two O'Clock Date with Ahn Young-mi."

"Listeners have been telling me since last week that I seem pregnant — and they're right," she said at the time. "My first was a late-age pregnancy, but this one is even more so. Every day feels like walking a tightrope."

She added that she had decided to make the surprise announcement because she felt she had reached a stable stage in the pregnancy.

"I gave birth to Ttakkongi (my first) in July when it was blazing hot. I'll have the second in July too," she said. "It's a boy, and his prenatal nickname is Ttakdong."

On June 21, Ahn posted on her Instagram account: "I'll come back after a safe and healthy delivery. I hope you won't tune in to other radio shows while I'm gone."

She also showed her playful side, writing: "I'll be monitoring the whole time, so please go easy on the special DJs."

Ahn made her debut as a comedian in 2004 through KBS's 19th open recruitment class.

She began dating her husband in 2015, registered their marriage in February 2020, and welcomed their first son in 2023.
