Actor Choi Woo-shik has spoken out about allegations that he snubbed a Black fan at a Paris fashion show.
Choi posted a statement in English on his social media Sunday, saying, "If I missed you, I'm sorry. I wanted to sign autographs for as many fans as possible, but I was very short on time. I hope we get another chance to meet and I can sign for you next time."
The controversy began June 26, when a Black woman posted a video on social media claiming she had experienced racial discrimination at a Paris fashion show. She alleged that a Korean actor had walked past her outstretched poster and signed autographs only for other fans before leaving.
"I'm not someone who throws around the word racism easily," she said. "But he came right up to where I was standing and only signed for other fans. I was the only Black person there."
The allegations spread online after viewers identified the actor in the video as Choi, drawing him into a racial discrimination controversy.
