Actor and DJ Lee Bon returns as singer after 27 years under new name 'Black Kong'

Actor and radio DJ Lee Bon, 53, is making a comeback as a singer after 27 years.

Her agency TT Music announced Monday that Lee will release her first album, "Yellow & Pink," at noon Tuesday under the artist name Black Kong.

The release marks her first album since "Killing Time," which came out in June 1999 — a gap of 27 years.

"Yellow & Pink" contains two tracks, "Mozzarella" and "Pink Order," both of which Lee co-wrote.

"Like memories tucked away in an old diary, the warm feelings of excitement and love we had once forgotten will come back to life through Black Kong's voice," TT Music said in a statement.

"I'm so excited to meet fans through music again after such a long time," Lee said. "I made these songs hoping that anyone who listens will feel even a little happier and more at ease, and I hope they can serve as a small gift to everyone who has waited and cheered for me for so long."

Lee debuted in 1993 as a talent recruited through SBS's open audition and built her profile through youth dramas including SBS's "Yeoljung Sidae," KBS's "Neukkim" and "Changgong," becoming one of the most popular young stars of the 1990s and serving as an MC on variety programs. She hosted KBS 2FM's "Lee Bon's Turn Up the Volume" for nine years from 1995 to 2004. Last year she returned to radio after a 21-year absence with KBS 2 Radio's "Lee Bon's La La Land." She is widely known by the nickname "Kkamankong" — meaning "black bean" — a nod to her dark complexion and bubbly personality.
