Sales begin July 1 at 10 a.m. via the Seoul Pay+ app; vouchers can be used at local merchants on the public food delivery app Ddaenggyeoyo
Seoul's Dongdaemun-gu will issue 1 billion won ($648,000) worth of "Dongdaemun-gu Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Vouchers" starting July 1 at 10 a.m., aiming to ease residents' cost-of-living burden amid high prices and boost sales for local small businesses.
The vouchers will be available at a 15 percent discount through the Seoul Pay+ app. Each customer may purchase up to 200,000 won per month and hold up to 1 million won at a time; vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase. They can be used as a payment method when ordering from merchants in the district through the public online food delivery app Ddaenggyeoyo.
Customers can buy the vouchers on the Seoul Pay+ app and then place and pay for orders through the Ddaenggyeoyo app.
The district said it hopes the voucher program will lighten the financial load on residents, increase sales for local small-business owners and encourage greater use of the public food delivery platform.
Sales may end early if the full issuance amount sells out.
