LH named project operator for Bundang Zone 6·S3 as first-generation new town redevelopment gains pace

Korea Land & Housing Corp. (LH) announced Monday it has been designated as the project operator for Zone 6·S3, a pilot district within the Bundang new town in Seongnam.

Seongnam Bundang Zone 6·S3, planned for 2,475 units, was designated and publicly notified as a special redevelopment zone in January under the Special Act on the Improvement and Support of Aging Planned Cities.

The zone secured more than 80 percent resident consent within just one and a half months of beginning to collect consent forms on April 18 — well above the legal threshold of 50 percent. The result reflects strong resident trust in the public-led development model and a clear community will to move the project forward.

Following the operator designation, LH plans to sign a project implementation agreement with the residents' representative council in July and swiftly advance subsequent steps — including contractor selection, project implementation authorization and a management and disposal plan — in close cooperation with residents.

"The designation of LH as project operator for Bundang Zone 6·S3 is a meaningful achievement made possible by the active commitment of residents and the systematic support of the public sector," said Kang O-sun, head of LH's Regional Balance Division. "We will focus all of LH's capabilities to ensure this becomes a model case for first-generation new town redevelopment."

Meanwhile, LH was previously selected as a preliminary project operator for Gunpo Sanbon Zone 11, Zone 9-2 and the Mongnyeon Village area in Bundang.
