Hanul nuclear plant hits 1.4 trillion kWh in cumulative output after 38 years

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Hanul Nuclear Power Plant headquarters has reached 1.4 trillion kWh in cumulative power generation, 38 years after its establishment.

According to Hanul headquarters, the plant recorded the milestone as of June 27. The achievement comes 38 years after Hanul Unit 1 was completed in 1988.

The 1.4 trillion kWh figure is equivalent to the total electricity consumed by Seoul over the past 30 years, and is 2.5 times the country's total power consumption of 549.4 billion kWh in 2025.

Alongside its stable power production, Hanul headquarters has pursued a range of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power support projects in culture, education and medical welfare, fostering coexistence with the surrounding community.

"Reaching 1.4 trillion kWh in cumulative generation is a meaningful achievement made possible by the trust of the public and local communities," said Lee Se-yong, head of Hanul Nuclear Power Plant headquarters. "We will continue to put safety first and do our utmost to ensure stable power supply and shared growth with the region."
