Seoul's Seocho-gu held a launch ceremony Tuesday at the art hall of Seocho Arts and Culture Center to mark the start of the 9th elected term, under the banner "Seocho Golden Era 2."
The event was organized to share the district's governing vision and operational direction for the new term with staff and to reaffirm its commitment to a fresh start. As the official launch of the 9th elected term, it offered an occasion to look back on the achievements of the past four years and lay out a shared vision for the future.
The program opened with a pre-ceremony performance and proceeded through a national ceremony, a presentation of 8th-term achievements and 9th-term vision, a congratulatory video message from Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, an inauguration address by District Mayor Jeon Seong-su, and a staff participation celebration.
In his inauguration address, Jeon said, "If the past four years were about vigorously opening 'Seocho Golden Era 1,' the next four years will be the time to bring 'Seocho Golden Era 2' to completion." He pledged to repay the support of residents through what he called "wholehearted administration" — governance driven by total dedication.
Jeon then outlined five key visions for the 9th term: a vibrant economic city, a premium residential city, an everyday cultural city, a green welfare city, and a city of future promises. He said he would build the foundation for Seocho's future growth through core campaign pledges including the creation of a global AICT belt in the Yangjae and Naegok areas and the undergrounding of the Gyeongbu arterial road and Banpo-daero.
A highlights video reviewed the changes and achievements Seocho-gu accomplished over the past four years and introduced the key policies and future vision to be pursued in the 9th term. In the latter part of the event, staff took part in a "Support Message Wall" activity and random interviews, leaving messages of encouragement for the new term and sharing their hopes for Seocho's future.
"If the 8th term was a time of proof, the 9th term will be a time of completion," Jeon said. "I will push forward with swift, all-out administration so that residents continue to feel an ever greater 'Seocho transformation.'"
