'Residents' 100-Task Project' is first official approval of the 9th elected term
Over 230 proposals received as of July 1, spanning everyday lifestyle improvements to long-term strategy
Top 100 proposals to be selected and pursued as resident-driven policy
Dobong-gu District Mayor Kim Dong-wook made the "Dobong Great Transformation Residents' 100-Task Project" his first official act on Tuesday, the opening day of his 9th elected term.
The choice reflects Kim's commitment to shaping the district's governing agenda together with residents.
The project invites residents to propose policies directly, incorporating their ideas into district administration to build a new vision and policy direction for Dobong-gu.
The district has been accepting policy proposals since June 23. Submissions fall under six categories: the Changdong economic engine, future transportation and residential innovation, public site development and urban regeneration, education and smart welfare, resident sovereignty and administrative innovation, and open free proposals.
As of Tuesday, more than 230 proposals had been received, with many focusing on issues residents feel directly — improving daily inconveniences, revitalizing the local economy, upgrading transportation and residential environments, and making better use of public sites.
Practical welfare proposals included improving the operation of cold-water refrigerators for heat-wave relief, providing electric and assistive equipment for elderly residents who collect waste paper, and expanding storage and charging spaces for electric wheelchairs. More creative ideas also emerged, such as creating a rest area beneath the elevated section near Changdong Station, developing a cultural arts platform with a musical fountain along Uicheon Stream, and launching a senior e-sports program.
Proposals will be accepted through Sunday, and those received will be delivered to Kim at the 9th-term inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, July 8. They will then go through review by the relevant departments before the top 100 are selected and managed as official tasks.
"Residents are submitting a wide range of proposals, from fixing everyday inconveniences to charting Dobong's future growth strategy," Kim said. "We will continuously manage the progress of each proposal so it does not end as a one-time exercise, and we will turn them into policies that residents can actually feel making a difference."
